Résumé

I grew up in the northeastern part of South Dakota where I also attended and graduated college with a BA in Graphic Design. I've been a graphic designer for over 14 years with the past 5 years being all web design. Working in a smaller town, the opportunity of having multiple designers and programmers is not readily available. So along with web design, I also learned front-end development, server usage, networking as well as some PHP functionality.

I've worked in a variety of environments where I was always able to add to my skillsets. From my first job as a professional working at the local newspaper to the point where I became a freelancer I have always enjoyed the challenges I faced with each occupation to further advance my skills and my career.

DSS Image Apparel - Graphic Designer

December 2010 / Present

Create and illustrate vector based design concepts for screen printing and embroidery. Trapping, seperating and outputting designs to film. Work directly with the customers from design conception to finished product. Also Maintain company websites with general updates.

Web Haven - Freelance Designer

January 2009 / Present

Creation and maintenance of many web sites for corporate, non-profit and other clients. Performed the full spectrum of web-related tasks, including rapid prototyping, design and layout, graphics creation and optimization, some server-side programming (primarily PHP) working with content management system design and integration (wordpress, drupal), MySQL databases, standards-compliant XHTML and CSS, testing, training, hosting, security, traffic generation and ongoing updates.

McQuillen Creative Group - Front-End Developer

November 2010 / November 2011

Primary front-end web developer for firm. Duties included developing prototype designs into fully functional, utilize front-end development technologies such as HTML, XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript to enhance interactivity, coordinate domain registrations, DNS changes and registrar transfers, provided search engine optimization / submission services, custom WordPress theme design and development, troubleshooting and client support for website issues, general maintenance, and e-mail.

Northern Valley Communications - Web Developer

September 2005 / October 2009

Professional web site development for customers all over the United States. Duties included designing and maintaining web sites, creating custom web graphics and layouts. Some web programming (PHP, ASP, Javascript), script installations, logo design, animated banners, copywriting and content creation, testing and debugging web sites. Worked closely with marketing department on designing print items - brochures, posters, print and web advertisements, catalogs. Managed multiple projects in different stages of development. Demonstrated an eager willingness to learn and use new technology.

Western Printing - Graphic Designer

2002 / 2005

Main duties included creating custom graphic design pieces for direct mail advertising, signage, posters (both for larger format printer and tabloid), brochures, catalogs, and logos. Close customer relations as well as a good working relationship with co-workers. Handled custom design pieces for a wide variety of hotel chains that required particular attention to detail. Maintained company web site. Trained designers on use of Photoshop and Freehand.
